Cerebras CEO predicts home personal AI assistants are coming
Decision Brief
Speaking at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026, Feldman said AI becoming a home appliance is "not that far away." He noted that consumer AI agents are finding ways to coexist with ordinary users, and predicted home AI will work like phones: some compute on-device, some sent back to the cloud. He believes these assistants will know users deeply, have their own security boundaries, and be able to access credit cards and place orders, giving them real impact on daily life. Feldman himself uses "a set of agents" to manage his calendar and look up information on upcoming call participants. As a chip company executive, he says he doesn't need consumer product ideas and would rather build the platform that lets others' ideas take off. For teams working on on-device inference and home AI hardware, a hybrid local-plus-cloud architecture means optimizing both device-side compute and cloud coordination. And consumer agents' ability to access payments will add another layer of interface requirements for developers handling payment permissions and security isolation.
