CAS Space Laser Communication Terminal Production Line Launched, Annual Capacity 600 Sets

On July 16, CAS Space launched its intelligent production line for satellite laser communication terminals in Xi'an's Qvlu Engine Photon Manufacturing Park, covering 2,000 sqm. The line integrates component assembly, integration, precision debugging, space environment simulation, and automated testing, with digital management systems enabling simultaneous performance checks and fault detection. Phase I targets 600 units annually, with plans to exceed 1,000 by 2027. The terminals support 5-100 Gbps rates, featuring compact size, low power, and strong anti-interference, designed for various LEO constellations. The technology stems from over 20 years of space laser communication research at the Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, CAS, with core optics developed in-house. Additionally, CAS Space launched public beta of its aerospace vertical large model "Huashan," tailored for satellite orbit operations, integrating orbital, optoelectronic, and maintenance knowledge. It aids collision risk assessment, fault identification, and operational decisions, reducing reliance on ground manual support. For constellation operators, laser terminals provide inter-satellite high-speed links, while Huashan enables data analysis and decision support, together enhancing large constellation management autonomy.
