Nscale and Anthropic reportedly in talks for second $45B compute deal
Decision Brief
Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter, says Nscale and Anthropic are close to announcing a second $45 billion compute deal; talks are ongoing and details may change. A little over a month ago the two companies already announced a $45 billion compute deal of the same size, and if this one closes it would be the latest in a string of massive compute agreements Anthropic has signed over the past year. TechCrunch has reached out to both companies for confirmation. For developers and procurement teams relying on Anthropic's model APIs, back-to-back large-scale compute deals suggest more stable medium- and long-term inference capacity expectations; however, the deal is still in negotiations, and delivery schedules and pricing terms have not been disclosed. On the other hand, the massive compute spending has raised concerns among some investors about excessive costs and insufficient returns. Anthropic still expects to go public this year, and Nscale is also seeking a listing, but Bloomberg says its $30 billion valuation plan is meeting investor resistance.
