Amazon launches Bee Frontier and Bee Eclipse always-listening AI wearables, plus Bee Pro subscription
Decision Brief
Amazon announced two new Bee devices: the $74.99 Bee Frontier, an upgraded original Bee worn as a wristband or clip, keeping dual mics, a recording light, ~7-day battery, and IP67 water resistance, with a more prominent three-color record button; and the $99.99 Bee Eclipse, a credit-card-sized magnetic device that sticks to the back of a phone, with a larger battery lasting ~21 days per charge and a more professional positioning. Both rely on continuous audio capture to generate summaries, transcriptions, insights, and to-dos. The companion Bee Pro subscription costs $11.99/month. The free tier offers only conversation summaries, recaps, and 14-day memory; the paid tier unlocks "unlimited" summaries, suggested to-dos, daily memory, a personal chat assistant, conversation templates, third-party app integrations, and a desktop app, with Amazon and Alexa Plus compatibility as the core selling point. Amazon integration is opt-in; once enabled, it pushes shopping suggestions to the Amazon homepage or the Bee mobile app based on conversations—for example, a product card appears when family asks you to buy cat litter. Alexa Plus enables hands-free queries of Bee summaries and insights. On privacy, Amazon says Bee encrypts transcripts, summaries, and to-dos via a "Private Compute" architecture, does not store recordings, and can auto-stop recording after a period of silence; the device trains only on your own voice during setup, and other speakers are not auto-recognized unless they also opt in. Whether these arrangements satisfy users and enterprise buyers worried about the recording boundaries of always-listening devices still depends on their definition of "recording."
