Meta Launches Muse Image Model to Integrate Instagram Users into AI-Generated Images
Decision Brief
Meta announced Tuesday its first AI image generation model, Muse Image, developed by its Superintelligence Labs. The model now powers image tools in Meta AI, Instagram, and WhatsApp, with plans for Facebook and Messenger. A key feature is the ability to "pull in" other Instagram users into AI-generated images—for example, creating a group photo or scene with specific friends or accounts. This allows creators and marketers to generate images featuring real Instagram users via prompts, eliminating the need for extra design assets. Regular users can also create more personalized images in chats. However, Meta did not detail privacy controls around unauthorized generation. This update underscores Meta's push to integrate generative AI into core products, competing with OpenAI's DALL-E and Google's Gemini.
