mcp-agent Open Source Framework Released for Composable Agents Based on MCP

mcp-agent implements every pattern from Anthropic's "Building Effective Agents" (map-reduce, orchestrator, evaluator-optimizer, router, etc.) in a composable chaining style. It fully supports core MCP components (tools, resources, prompts, notifications) and advanced features (OAuth, sampling, hints, root resources), with durable execution via Temporal enabling pause, resume, and recovery without API changes. Python developers install with `uv add mcp-agent` and use a few decorators and context managers to turn coroutines into durable workflows and tools. The CLI (`uvx mcp-agent init`) scaffolds projects, and agents can be deployed as MCP servers. Early adopters include teams needing to integrate arbitrary MCP servers (filesystem, pull, Slack, etc.) into unified workflows, with production-grade logging, token accounting, and cloud deployment.
