Replit CEO proposes the 'self-driving company,' with AI agents handling daily work
Decision Brief
Masad said Replit's internal operations have been completely transformed, best described as a "self-driving company": the company improves itself to some degree, with agents driving much of the work. In support, an agent performs initial triage on incoming tickets—checking GitHub issues, the codebase, and Linear tickets—so requests reach humans with all the context needed to decide. When a support person decides to ship a patch, one click deploys another agent to execute the fix. Agents do most of the work in this loop, but human judgment stays in the middle, and Masad believes that judgment and taste won't disappear soon. For engineering teams wiring AI agents into internal ticketing, code review, or ops workflows, Replit's approach shows the value of agents isn't replacing humans but letting them spend time on architecture and deciding what to build. Masad added that when talking with outside enterprises, the conversation centers more on how AI makes employees more productive and happier—because once agents take over boring work, people become more creative.
