career-ops open-source job-hunting agent: scans local listings and scores them against your resume
Decision Brief
career-ops is an open-source job-hunting agent that runs inside AI coding CLIs (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, etc.). It first checks whether a posting is still live, then scores it 1-5 against the user's real resume; anything below 4.0 gets a recommendation not to apply. Once a role passes, it auto-generates ATS-readable tailored resume and cover letter PDFs via an HTML plus Playwright pipeline, and also supports interview prep, salary negotiation scripts, and application tracking. It ships presets for 100+ companies including Anthropic, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Retool, and n8n, covering Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever, and Wellfound channels; install with npx @santifer/career-ops init. By design, human confirmation is strictly preserved: the system only drafts answers for each field and never auto-submits applications (prepare-application.mjs performs no POST), the codebase contains no email-sending module, and there is no telemetry or backend—resumes travel only from the user's machine to their chosen model provider. All application records stay local, and the only public record is HIRED.md in the repo. The project matters most to developers applying on their own and to tech teams currently hiring: it shifts spray-and-pray applications toward fewer, sharper targeted ones, at the cost of an initial conversation about your resume, target roles, and dealbreakers, plus manual judgment on whether to override low-scoring roles.
