Reactive Resume v6 released: open-source resume tool adds AI assistant and MCP server
Decision Brief
Reactive Resume v6 redesigns the editor with click-to-select, inline editing, and live PDF preview; templates grow to 17 with new Porygon and Smeargle options and an ATS-safe filter. It adds resume readability checks, job keyword matching, and a public ATS checker that reads PDFs directly in the browser. Also new: a standalone cover letter editor, kanban-style job tracking from Saved to Offer, and an AI assistant that chats with your resume and lets you accept or reject each suggested change. The AI assistant supports OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, Ollama, and more, and ships a REST API and MCP server for document management, import/export, and job workflows. Self-hosters can run it on Docker, Vercel, Cloudflare Workers, or one-click Hostinger deploys, configuring their own shared AI and web-access services. v6 switches PDF generation to Forme, running in-browser and server-side without Browserless, Chromium, or an external print service; the old PRINTER_* and BROWSERLESS_* env vars can be deleted. Upgrading from v5 requires backing up your database and uploads, stopping all v5 instances, manually converting legacy visual style rules, and accounting for API and MCP integration changes.
