LibreChat v0.8.8 released: Agent management API, attached workspace, and manual context compression
Decision Brief
LibreChat v0.8.8 brings several Agent-focused capabilities. The new Agent management API (beta) allows creating, discovering, updating, and deleting Agents using an OIDC identity bound to the deployment, plus managing Agent files and Skills, while preserving existing role and Agent access controls and providing public OpenAPI and Swagger UI. The highly experimental attached workspace lets you pick a default workspace per hosted or personal code worker, letting Agents view the directory tree, read and search files, write changes, and run Bash under bounded timeouts; personal workers support bounded self-registration and readiness status. Other updates include background tool cancellation, ask/allow/deny approvals for file writes and command execution, manual context compression, unified attachments, and GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol wired into the Responses API.
