Replika founder launches multi-threaded personal AI assistant Wabi
Decision Brief
Wabi appears as an instant-messaging interface where users maintain multiple Agent threads for different tasks and long-term goals, each with custom apps—for example, a weight-loss log in a health thread or local family activities in a family thread. Kuyda says the team found over the past year that users like personalized software but don't want to spend time building it, so Wabi 2.0 has the Agent decide which apps to build: after connecting an email, it automatically generates several threads and apps, and users can request more. Unlike single-threaded assistants such as Instinct and Muse, Wabi emphasizes multiple threads and multi-person sharing; threads can be shared as group chats with per-chat scoping, and participants can see when others' personal information is requested. Wabi is currently free with no established business model, and the company says it is in talks for a new funding round. For ordinary users of personal AI assistants and product teams focused on multi-person collaborative Agents, Wabi makes multi-thread isolation and sharing permissions a default entry point, but pricing after the free period and where data is stored remain points to verify before adoption.
