Smartsheet MCP server goes GA on AWS with 40+ tools
Decision Brief
Smartsheet has launched a generally available MCP server covering 40+ tools across sheets, rows, columns, and automations, enabling natural-language updates to task status, row creation, and project structure changes. Endpoints are available in US, EU, and AU regions over Streamable HTTP, with OAuth 2.0 or personal access token auth. Smartsheet says it returns structured context rather than raw API payloads, cutting token usage and latency when running hundreds of queries across a portfolio. There are two integration paths: Amazon Quick offers it as a built-in connector so PMs and ops teams can ask which tasks are blocked, update statuses, or generate overdue summaries in chat; Kiro connects via an MCP config JSON so developers can pull current sprint tasks, generate specs, and use hooks to auto-mark rows complete after commits. Permissions follow the Smartsheet REST API layer: agents only see data the authenticated user can access, admins can toggle AI features globally and configure write-tool access by user group, and firewalls just need domain allowlisting. The server doesn't store prompts, only structured tool calls and results. Requires a Smartsheet Business, Enterprise, or AWM plan.
