Nutlope/hallmark releases: a design skill that strips the AI look from Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex
Decision Brief
Hallmark is a design skill for Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex aimed at rejecting the typical AI-generated look. It offers four verbs: build new UI by default, audit existing code, redesign structure while keeping content, and extract design DNA from a screenshot or URL. The skill picks a macro structure from 21 themes, runs 57 slop-detection gates, and self-reviews before output. Each generated page is self-contained HTML+CSS, with its macro structure noted in comments. For front-end developers using Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex, this means the generated UI is no longer the same template in different colors. Different needs get differently structured pages -- a sourdough app and an extraction API look nothing alike. When a brief carries creative intent the catalog themes can't cover, Hallmark switches to custom mode, designing palette, type, and layout from scratch, still passing the 57 gates. Install via npx skills add nutlope/hallmark, or copy manually into each tool's skills directory. Rules live in SKILL.md and references/; examples in docs/recipes.md and docs/study-examples.md. The project is MIT licensed.
